Tara Anderson

Vice President & Board Member

Tara Anderson is the general manager of the dining services at Mountain American Credit Union HQ in Sandy. She is most interested in helping solve the food waste problem as it relates to foodservice and how she can help influence change.  Her goal is to help educate others in the culinary world about the financial and environmental impact of not caring about food waste and can hopefully change habits. Cairns Café @ MACU is a food rescue certified operation and has a compost friendly dining room and kitchen thanks to Momentum Recycling.

Tara grew up on a family farm in Kentucky where she found she had passion for local food and its origin, which was usually right out the back door. She tended her family’s large garden, along with numerous other chores that one has on a family farm. 

Tara is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York. She has worked across the country in fine dining, high-end/high-volume catering, fast casual, and product development for PepsiCo, owned a baby-food business, and was the chef instructor for UT Southwestern Culinary Medicine Program in Dallas for a year.

Tara, her two girls, and her husband, Brent, live in Sugarhouse and own Ace Handyman Services, SLC East as well. She skiis, practices yoga, gardens, hikes, and drinks wine with friends.
