The WasteLess Certified Home Program recognizes consumers that are committed to reducing food waste, protecting the environment, and supporting our local community. By becoming WasteLess Certified, you are demonstrating measurable action across key areas like planning meals, consciously shopping, composting, recycling, and preventing food waste.
Your investment in certification is a powerful decision, it's direct climate action! Consumers are responsible for a significant portion of where food is wasted (33% of all U.S. food waste comes from our homes). This certification gives you a meaningful way to show your community you CARE about the planet.
Certification also helps your wallet too. On average, a family of four throws away approximately $1,500 worth of food every year. Becoming WasteLess Certified gives your household the tools to plan smarter, cook mindfully, and divert waste effectively. Beyond the significant grocery savings, you’ll be taking a stand against climate change by reducing methane emissions in our local landfills. Step 1
Complete the application form below based on how you reduce food waste at home. Please upload photos of ways you reduce food waste so that we can share on our social media and get others to join the movement!
Step 2
Once you have met the minimum amount of criteria to become WasteLess Certified, please pay the $45 early adopters fee to cover the cost of the materials. You will be prompted with a payment link when you complete the application. Once the fee has been paid, you will receive your display materials and lifetime access to the WasteLess Way education course where you can learn other strategies on how to waste less food. Your payment is a tax deductible donation to WasteLess, and helps us build a more sustainable future for Utah.
