As the government shutdown continues into November, more than 169,300 Utah residents (nearly 5% of our state’s population will not receive their expected SNAP food assistance benefits). These are families who depend on that support to put food on the table.
At the very same time, Utah wastes over 600,000 tons of edible food every year. A problem isn’t food supply, it's food distribution. That’s where WasteLess Solutions comes in. We rescue surplus, edible food from grocery stores, restaurants, caterers, bakeries, and events, and redistribute it to local nonprofits feeding food-insecure Utahns. This year alone, we’ve rescued over 300,000 pounds of food that would have gone to waste, and we’re gearing up to meet a growing demand for food assistance across the state.
